I love chatting to inspirational people, and with Creations Hair Salon being a community hub, we meet lots of different people taking on many of different challenges.
One of our lovely clients Brad Ainsworth from Cathedral Wealth Management in Chichester has committed to take on a personal challenge this coming September to climb Mount Kilimanjaro!
After a casual conversation with one of his clients, Brad had said yes before even thinking about the challenge ahead.
I was really intrigued about the type of training you have to do for something as monumental as this, but Brad said with a few local challenges such as the South Downs Way Walk, a personal trainer and a healthy diet, this will get me physically ready.
Brad has the added challenge of being partially sighted, with a condition called retinitis pigmentosa, basically tunnel vision, so in low level light this will be very difficult, and being a husband and father of 3 young children, it will also be very difficult being away from his family with little to no contact.
I have to say, Kilimanjaro is definitely on my bucket list, so it will be very interesting to find out how Brad gets on, his aim is to raise £10,000 for charity. For every £1 Brad raises the company associated with Cathedral Wealth Management, St. James Place Wealth Management, will donate £2.
Brad also shared with me ‘Stephen Sutton who raised £5 million for the teenage cancer trust told me that I have 86,400 seconds each day to make a difference. Unfortunately, his seconds were running out because he knew he was going to die soon (he was 19 when he told me this). I plan to use my seconds achieving something that will challenge me both mentally and physically. If you plan to do something, take the first step and then tell everyone you are doing it – that way you can’t back out!
