An Awe Inspiring Trip
October is creeping up fast and the 4 of us are getting excited for our trip to build a home for a family in need. For me personally I am looking forward to seeing all the children at the school we sponsor. Here at Creations we have raised £3000 on top of what we need to build a house so that a school of 500 children, 300 of them orphans, can have breakfast every school day. This helps them to learn more, concentrate more and have more energy. They wont be worrying about being hungry, just focused on learning, therefore building themselves a better future.
When I think of all the things we managed to achieve whilst we were there last October it overwhelms me. From waterproofing 6 unfinished homes to building a new one to providing 3 communities with a football pitch size allotments.
We went to see the progress on one of the allotments and came across a small beaten up old building with smashed windows and tatty paint work with a wasps nest in the doorway in the middle of nowhere. Inside was the quietest classroom i’ve ever seen. We poked our heads round the door and they all smiled at us. Feeling bad we disrupted their lesson we went to the van and collected some teddies the Knitting Nannies had made for the children and gave them out. We then disrupted their lesson even more and took them outside to teach them the teddy bear song. When we left all we could hear as we walked away was them all singing the song together. Its an amazing sound when they sing together, it gives me goosebumps.
There are so many people Im looking forward to seeing again, so many things we can show to the girls who haven’t been, like going to the orphanage, spending time with the children, visiting the family we built for last year, being lucky enough to go on a safari, so many other amazing and life changing experiences to be had.
