It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year – Awards Season!

I won’t lie, January is not a fun month. We have no money, its cold, wet and miserable. But every year without fail January brings the American and British awards season. Nothing cheers me up more than the red carpet horror or a surprise blossoming of a film star to award show goddess. The hair, the dress, makeup and of course in some cases the acting can take you to super stardom and the front pages globally.

We all remember Gwyneth’s Oscar moment (she’s still crying), Bjork and her swan dress and the Hollyoaks stars who look dressed for a night down Thursdays not a black tie awards night! The amount of preparation that goes into being red carpet ready is phenomenal. Many celebrities have Botox in their armpits to prevent sweating or even the new craze of the blood facial to look ‘fresh’ for the evening.

But without fail every year a few ladies catch my eye when they NAIL that red carpet glamour look. Jenifer Lawrence stole the show in 2014 but what will in 2015?
For me the Golden Globes pave the way for what to expect at the Oscars. And a few looks for me stole the show….

Katie Holmes looked incredible and seemed to be morphing into Victoria Beckham at this year’s awards, even down to the head tilt pose and moody pout. You can’t deny that she looks beautiful, simple and yet elegant in her Marchesa dress. Watch out Victoria there is a new fashion queen in town!

Julianne Moore has won the Golden Globe for actress in a motion picture drama for her performance in “Still Alice.” It was however her gorgeous hair and dress that stole the show. She rocked the 2015 trend of the ‘Woodstock’ wave for her hair and wore the most stunning gown from Givenchy.

But let’s face it… we all want to see who got it wrong!

golden-globes-2015-kerry-washingtonKerry Washington from the show Scandal, which has its own clothing line in homage to the star, opted for a Tudor style dress covered in scales. I love Kerry, she is an incredible actress and beautiful but her hair and dress easily qualify for worst dressed at the Golden Globes.

Award hair is tricky as you don’t want to seem ‘overdone’ but I can,t help but feel she could also have made more of a statement with her hair.  I will be interested to see what hair styles appear at the Oscars this year as many actresses have gone for shorter cuts in 2014.

Someone getting a lot of negative tweets was Jane Fonda for dressing ‘too young’ in her Versace dress and was criticised for looking cheap and not age appropriate.

So next is the Oscars on February 22nd! And I for one, can’t wait!
