Here come the girls – (and hangovers)
As I write this article my calendar is telling me that it’s only 48 days to Christmas, worse still, only 20 till our Creations Christmas party!
It’s the time of year when we dig out our party shoes, pluck, tan and add just a hint of sparkle to our winter party looks.
As tempted as I would be to assist you with your outfit selection I will stick with what I know best and show you 3 simple Christmas party looks for your hair. 2015 is all about glamour but adding width to the hair and NOT height. Gone is the Cheryl blow dry and hello to Jerry Hall 70’s glam.
My must have product for the winter party season is dry shampoo, not for day old hair, but for stability and long lasting powerful hair ups.
LOOK ONE – Jerry Hall 70’s Glam.
Wash hair, blow dry using a paddle brush then rub mousse throughout. Mousse helps your hair expand and the look lasts for longer.
1. Use heated rollers or a large tong for volume. Clip curled hair into its curl using pins and tissue (So the hair remains perfect.)
2. Remove the rollers/pins and firmly brush out the curls with a bristle brush. Make sure you brush all of the hair across to one side.
3. Hairspray all your hair, ruffling through with your fingers as you go. Use a traditional aerosol here rather than a pump.
4. Use kirby grips or an accessory to keep hair firmly to one side.
5. Spray hair all over to hold style.
LOOK TWO – Disco Diva.
My favourite and most popular look this season, working beautifully on a bob as well as mid length hair.
Wash hair, blow-dry smooth using a paddle brush.
1. Use a GHD wand or small hair tong to curl hair.
2. Pull the hair into about 20 sections and curl. Clip each curled section into place.
3. Allow hair to cool with clips in for about five minutes.
4. Remove clips and use fingers to unwind hair. This will loosen tight curls and create a wavy look.
5. While loosening curls, ruffle out the back of your hair using the fingers to create volume at the side and back but NOT on top.
6. Get out the hairspray and blast into place.
LOOK THREE – The Top Knot
Wash hair and blow-dry.
- Back-brush hair. (A good time for dry shampoo.)
- Place hair into a high pony on the top of the crown. Use your fingers to rake the hair back, because this works much better than using a brush.
- Use the pony to create a top knot by looping the hair around itself in a circular motion. Keep this in place with kirby grips.
- Loosely pull out strands from the top knot to frame the face and give a soft look or leave up for a more dramatic finish.
- Place an Alice band with detailing on to the knot to add glamour. Sink the arms of the Alice band into the knot so that just the detailing shows Keep the top knot messy.
- Finish off with a splash of glitter spray for extra glitz. The style is ideal for shorter women as it adds height. It also helps to accentuate jaw lines.
