Glued to my TV on Saturday while awaiting news of the ‘Royal Baby’ for me the highlight was the announcement that came way before Kate left hospital. At 2.01pm the Sky news presenter said to camera that she had spotted someone looking ‘like a hairdresser’ enter the wing of the hospital.
And she was right sneaking in the side door at the hospital was stylist Amanda Cook Tucker who had been on speed dial during the weeks leading to the birth. Although Kate is a long standing client of Richard Ward at £600 a cut she uses Amanda who has been cutting Williams hair since he was a teenager at £300 for a blow dry for events.
In fact its Kates father in law who privately pays Amanda to tend to the Duchesses locks and with a ‘simple delivery’ at the Lindo Wing costing £12,000 (a 10% discount for a repeat customer) this was one expensive weekend.
In a recent interview William described his wife’s hair as ‘nightmare hair’. Her colourist Jo Hansford say the secret to Kate’s glossy ‘effortless look’ hair is simple. A clear gloss. Between colours and on the day of colouring Kate has a 10-20 minute gloss applied to her hair. It was once reported the Duchess of Cambridge had had a ‘digital perm’ used to bend the hair in a semi-permanent curl. Using what looks like something out of Dr Who to create the curls. As Kate has natural waves in her hair I would think this unlikely.
